In memoriam
Faruk Tabak (1954-2008)
Faruk Tabak, a member of the Editorial Board of New Perspectives on Turkey, and a dear friend of many people associated with the journal, passed away in Ankara on February 15, 2008. The Ertegun Assistant Professor of Turkish Studies at Georgetown University at the time of his cruelly early death, Faruk was the author of "The Waning of the Mediterranean, 1550-1870: A Geohistorical Approach", and had edited three other books, “Informalization: Process and Structure” (with Michaeline A. Crichlow), “Landholding and Commercial Agriculture in the Middle East” (with Çağlar Keyder), and “Allies As Rivals: The U.S., Europe, and Japan in a Changing World-System.” We are deeply saddened by the loss of a great friend and an excellent scholar. |
